Infants & Toddlers

We have two rooms that each hold eight infants, and one room that holds 10 toddlers. Our infant rooms are called Minnows and Tadpoles. Our toddler room is called Dragonflies.

Infants are babies three months to two years. Toddlers can be eighteen to thirty months.

We believe that infants and toddlers learn best from a play based curriculum. Play based learning allows the child to develop their creative, cognitive, social, emotional, large and fine motor skills as well as language skills at a developmentally appropriate level. Through play based learning infants and toddlers are given the opportunity to freely explore and experiment in their environments. Infants and toddlers develop skills through practice and repetition which strengthens their cognitive development and helps them to understand themselves and their world. We believe that having an enriched environment with many opportunities for infants and toddlers to explore, and educators to nurture, encourage and provide these environments is exactly what they need to grow and develop naturally.

We incorporate outdoor time every day, unless it is extremely hot or extremely cold. When the weather prevents us from going outdoors, we bring elements of the outdoors inside to play with.

We provide daily planned learning experiences that are chosen with the children’s interests and developmental needs in mind. We take advantage of incidental learning, as infant and toddler brains are constantly absorbing new information and making connections.

And most of all we provide warm, nurturing care for each child in our care ♥
