We are getting many emails about our opening plans. There is nothing to share yet, but hopefully we will be able to put out an update in early October. All available opening spaces have been filled.
Plants Wanted
One of the things we will want when we open is to fill our playrooms with plants. If you have any extra non-toxic house plants around, or would like to start some for us from clippings, we’d love it!
Once we have occupancy of our building we can start building our plant collection.
A Little Update
Our building is getting closer to completion! It is a very exciting time as we watch it change. Once the building is complete we still need to complete the occupancy permit process and our Early Learning and Child Care Licensing process, not to mention outfitting the inside with furniture, appliances, equipment and of course TOYS!
All of our childcare spaces are filled for opening, and we have over 850 names on our waiting list. That really speaks to the desperate need for more childcare spaces in our community!
We will be seeking financial donations as well as donations of toys and materials over the coming two to three months. We can offer charitable tax receipts for financial donations. We have wish lists with both Aunt Monica’s Attic and Toad Hall Toys for high quality toys for the centre. We also gratefully accept used toys and books for infants and preschoolers. For toys we are mostly looking for wooden toys, and toys that don’t take batteries or use screens. Toys that offer open ended play opportunities are the best. If we receive a donation of something we can’t use, we are pretty good at finding someone who can use it.
We are also looking for someone who could build us a train out of a log, steering wheel and old chairs. We have the old chairs, but not the log or steering wheel.

In case you are checking back for updates, we have nothing new to share yet. We’re still hoping for a mid-fall opening, but have no target date yet. All spaces for fall have been filled. Check back mid-August for further updates. Thanks!
First Peek Inside
We were so excited that the Executive Director and Assistant Directors were able to go inside the new building for a visit today! Our few pictures don’t do it justice, but it looks great! Still no updates on a completion date, but here are a few pictures to share.

Our Educators are Amazing!
We got together with all of our new educators last night for the first time. What a powerful group of amazing people! Families, you will be happy to know that this group of people has so much experience and talent and passion for their work! We will share more information about individual educators and post photos a couple of weeks before we open.

We are starting our Sponsorship & Donation drive! The estimated costs for opening the centre exceed $200,000 and our anticipated government funding is only $33,000. Please consider making a charitable donation to us, or inviting your workplace/friends and family to donate or become sponsors. We will also be setting up gift registries at a couple of local toy shops over the coming weeks. More information will be available soon.
